Once you have everything set up but you just cant seem to get any signals or channels, here are some troubleshooting techniques that may solve the problem.
ISSUE: I cannot get a signal at all.
Possible solutions:
- Try elevating the antenna higher. If you live in a valley the transmitting signal may be relaying over top of you. Also make sure that large buildings are not in the line of site, as they can interfer with locking on to a good signal.
- Double check that the fitting and/or cable are free from corrosion. If you are using any switches, try to run a direct coaxial line from the antenna to your tuner and bypass the switch.
- Make sure that you have researched exactly how far the transmitters are away from your location. You want to be within 70 miles, and that you are using a ultra long range antenna if going for long range transmitters.
- Keep the coaxial cable limited to under 100 feet. By going over 100ft, you can lose up to 1/3 of the signal. A low noise pre amp is suggested when running long coaxial cable.
- Your digital tuner could be defective. Try another tuner and see if that is the issue.
ISSUE: Im not getting every channel.
Possible solutions:
- The transmitter is broadcasting at a lower power. It is not uncommon for stations to reduce power to save on costs. You can call the station and let them know about this, as they will will be open to your feedback.
- The method of encoder the station employs may be incompatible with your model of digital tuner.
Occasionally there are software incompatibilities between certain types of broadcast encoders and some models of digital tuners. A software or firmware upgrade may be required to correct this.
- You are too far away from the transmitter you want. Again, you can CLICK HERE to make sure you know exactly how many miles away the transmitter is from your location
